AN INTRODUCTION

Meet Manning

Republican Candidate for Mayor of NYC

Pastor James Manning was born in rural North Carolina. He had the unique experience of walking through the cotton fields holding the hand of his grandfather who was born a slave in 1861.

Going astray spiritually and socially in the tumultuous 60’s he ended up in the Florida Prison System where he worked on the chain gang.

He has pulled himself up by his own bootstraps, the Protestant Work Ethic and is deeply repentant of his early days of crime as a jewel thief.

In 1976 while incarcerated at Brooklyn House of Detention, Pastor Manning was saved. In 1977 he was transferred back to Raiford Prison where he met Richard Stauffer, a correctional officer who gave his life to Jesus and became a Methodist Pastor of a church as a result of watching Pastor Manning’s walk and listening to him teach about the Lord Jesus Christ. Pastor Manning was then transferred to Auburn Correctional Facility in New York to complete his ten year sentence.

In 1978, three days after he was released, Pastor Manning joined Bethelite Community Baptist Church located at 1626 Amsterdam Avenue under Pastor Millard Alexander Stanley.

In 1981 Pastor Manning became the Pastor of Bethelite Community Baptist Church while attending Union Theological Seminary. He graduated in 1985.

On a trip to South Africa in 1985 where he met with Nobel Peace Prize winner Bishop Tutu he also met Elizabeth Singleton who he married in 1988.

As pastor in Harlem for over forty years, he has served over 2 million meals to NYC poor and needy.

The man you see today through his many experiences stands as a strong patriot, graduate of an Ivy League school, a fearless, loving and truthful leader who genuinely wants to help the people live a better life.

POLICIES

Policies For The People

James Manning is committed to reducing the cost of living for all New Yorkers and ensuring fair pay for workers. His economic policy is two-pronged. First, he will focus on eliminating taxes on groceries making essential items like fresh produce, dairy, grains, and other staple foods more affordable for residents. (Isaiah 55:1-2) This tax relief will reduce food costs for families, improve food security, and support healthier communities. This will also include removing sales tax on restaurant meals, helping families dine out affordably, and supporting the local restaurant industry.

Second, James Manning is dedicated to advocating and providing all New Yorkers a living wage of $27/hr.  Raising the minimum wage will provide fair compensation for NYC’s working-class residents and reflect our city’s high cost of living. This wage adjustment will help workers in essential fields—including retail, food service, healthcare, and transportation—gain financial stability and better support their families.

Guided by principles like those found in Isaiah 55:1-2, James Manning believes that access to affordable food is a fundamental human right.

James Manning is dedicated to providing all New Yorkers with fair compensation that reflects the city’s high cost of living.

New Yorkers deserve a healthcare plan that lives up to the reputation of one of the greatest cities in the world.

A Man Of Great Vision

I’m going to bring SOUL and POWER back to the indigenous people of Harlem.

I tenaciously and spiritually seek to ask New Yorkers to establish an impressive memorial to the souls of the sisters and brothers and children that died in the middle passage.

My love for all Americans Black and White compelled me to call for racial reconciliation at that great killing field Gettysburg.
